Welcome to NES Art
For our celebration of International Peace Day on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016, the Art room participated in the Pinwheels for Peace project. The Newbury Elementary School students designed and drew their thoughts and feelings about peace on pinwheel templates. The pinwheels were then assembled by Mrs. Houde's Owls. We created an art installation designed to inspire a public reflection on peace. This project is a growing worldwide art installation project, with millions of pinwheels being planted on Peace Day.
The NES students learned about Rangoli, which are traditionally ephemeral art pieces made in India.
During the Farm Raiser, on October 11th, 2017, the students created a nature Rangoli on the Newbury common.
The natural materials used to make this piece were donated by Four Corners Farm in Newbury, Vermont.
