The tradition carries on and it may have been the best weather ever! The children ate apples off the trees as we hiked up the mountain. At the top we ate lunch, took pictures, and played games organized by Cameron Prest, Sara Gendall-Wilmott, and Kim Goody. One of the highlights was Mr. Goodell’s telling of the fascinating story about why we build Fairy Houses. Ask your kids about the hand motions for “Nomes are small, Ferries Fly”:) After the story, we all walked to the cross-roads and built the fairy houses to the children’s great delight and then headed back down to the buses. It was a wonderful day and the connections made on this trip were priceless.
Here we are again in another year of fun, challenge, and incredible learning. We already have rolling; small groups, chromebook math challenges, fascinating stories, STEAM, life-size boat building, Trimester Expositions, collaborations with Chef Paul, and much more cooking this year up into an ocean of curiosity and wonder. A couple key ingredients you might like to hear include the following. If you’d like to know more or have any questions, please call or stop in.
Adventure Friday is a two-fold program that is good for children, teachers, and the community. The basic idea for students is to encourage mindful, wellness activities that are educational and, when possible, provide community connections. The basic idea for teachers is to provide the collaborative time necessary to create projects and community connections that help move education forward into the world of real-life projects that enhance and expand academics.
This year we’ve moved to trimesters and we’re excited to have the students exhibit their learning for all to see. Each Exhibit will include a student performance with our Music/ Art department and we’re lucky enough to have a grant that will help us include dinner for the community before the fun begins! More info is coming and we really hoping you can all make it out.
Coffee, Questions, and Ideas at NES
The last Wednesday of each month from 8:00-9:00 will find us holding mostly a coffee discussion for those with questions and/or ideas. We’re hoping this will be a casual discussion where questions and ideas are shared while parents also have a chance to meet each other.
